The Family First Scholarship was established to help family members of fallen and disabled veterans achieve their educational goals by providing financial assistance

About Family First

The loss of life or severe impact of service-related disability suffered by our military veterans can be a devastating for our military services families. In support of these families, the Family First Scholarship has been created to enable Chapter 35 (VA’s Survivors’ and Dependents’ Education Assistance program) benefits-eligible family members to continue on their academic pathways.

We strive to create create lifelong opportunity in the face unimaginable tragedy.

Empowering the Future Through Education

Since 2020, the Family First Foundation has proudly supported 84 scholars, awarding more than $482,000 in scholarships. These awards help students pursue degrees across a wide range of fields—from engineering to education, business, and the arts.

In 2025 alone, we awarded 24 scholarships totaling $107,000 to outstanding students from Arizona State University. These scholars are not only excelling academically but also making meaningful contributions to their communities.

“Because of the Family First Scholarship, I’m one step closer to becoming the first person in my family to graduate from college. Thank you for believing in me.”
